The short answer
Read the exact product-to-water ratio, measure both parts, and keep the ratio unchanged when scaling a batch. For Noot, use one teaspoon per half US gallon of water. That is two teaspoons per gallon or half a teaspoon per quart.
Start with the label, not the container color
A dilution instruction belongs to a particular product. Do not reuse a ratio from a different brand, a stronger concentrate, or a ready-to-use spray. Keep the current product label where you can check it as you measure.
Write the ratio with both units: product amount and water amount. “One spoonful” leaves out the size of the spoon and the amount of water, which are the two details you need most.
Noot batch measurements
The following examples keep Noot’s stated concentration unchanged. The quart and gallon entries are arithmetic conversions of the half-gallon directions, using US volume measures. Use a clearly marked measuring tool.
| Water | Noot concentrate |
|---|---|
| 1 US quart | ½ teaspoon |
| ½ US gallon | 1 teaspoon |
| 1 US gallon | 2 teaspoons |

Scale the water and product together
The calculation is straightforward: divide your water amount by the label’s water amount, then multiply the product amount by the same number. With Noot, doubling half a gallon to one gallon also doubles one teaspoon to two.
For a small collection, a marked quart container and a half-teaspoon measure may be easier than estimating part of a large can. If you cannot measure a proposed batch accurately, choose a different batch size rather than rounding casually.

Check the mistakes that change the concentration
A tablespoon is three teaspoons, so substituting it changes the amount substantially. A watering can’s total capacity also may not equal the water currently in it. Read the actual fill mark before deciding how much concentrate to add.
- Measure water instead of filling a container by appearance.
- Read tsp and tbsp as different units.
- Do not count an unmarked cap as a measured teaspoon.
- If interrupted, establish what has already been added before continuing.
A batch size is not a per-plant dose
Preparing one quart does not mean one plant must receive the full quart. First decide whether each plant needs its usual watering, then use the correctly diluted solution according to its needs and the product label. Never apply Noot concentrate directly.
One vial makes approximately 3.5 gallons at the standard ratio. Keep a small batch tally if you want to estimate future orders. Do not make a more concentrated solution to make a small volume “last longer”; that changes the directions rather than stretching the same batch.

Common questions
What if my watering can is marked in liters?
Use the label’s units with a suitable measuring container, or confirm a precise conversion before mixing. Do not treat liters and gallons as interchangeable.
How much Noot goes into half a gallon?
One measured teaspoon. Never apply the concentrate directly to a plant.
